Well, this is a good sign on Title IX: The National Women's Law Center hates the recommendations.

NATIONAL WOMEN’S LAW CENTER EXPRESSES OUTRAGE OVER TITLE IX COMMISSION’S RECOMMENDATIONS
Washington, D.C.) President Bush’s Commission on Opportunity in Athletics recommended radical and sweeping changes to Title IX athletics policies that stand to reverse three decades of progress for women and girls in athletics. If accepted by the Bush Administration and Secretary of Education Roderick Paige, the proposals would allow women and girls to be treated as second-class citizens on college and high school playing fields across the nation and would drastically alter current law.

For more information, please see the briefing papers posted at www.ncwge.orgor call 202-588-5180.

Honestly, I wonder if this is scripted outrage. I'm still wading through the stuff and it'll help reduce--reduce, mind you--the female quota system only if they are all implemented diligently and not tied up in lawsuits forever. Which is probably where this is heading anyway.

Of course, the other wild card is the lawsuit against current enforcement brought by the wrestling coaches. It's still out there.
