Two dumb moments in local television news last night:

1. An anchor detailing all the roads that were closed or had checkpoints on them. Guy, you just joined the Sniper Intelligence Network.

2. A reporter in the field relaying chatter from a police scanner listing a full license plate number. Oh, sweet ignorance. There's a reason the police don't openly broadcast their radios on the Police Scanner Channel. One reason is that it's raw information. One of these days this is going to lead to mob justice, when there's only a random chance the suspect is actually guilty. Another is that if the police are in pursuit, they may need to keep their knowledge under wraps as they close a trap around the suspect.

How many different ways do you want to screw this up?
