Sniper Update: There was a story tonight on the radio that authorities found a shell casing in a box truck, I believe at a rental center, though I wasn't paying attention. I can't find anything online but I'm looking.
Meanwhile, Discredited Sniper Witness Arrested.
Worthless false info he's charged with giving include the description of the gun (AK-74), how close the shooter was (40 yards or so), the nonfunctional tail light, the cream-colored truck, the description of the shooter. Book 'em, Dano.
UPDATE: WTOP News (1500 AM, 107-point-something FM), reports on the air that police found a shell casing in a white box truck at a car rental agency not far from Dulles airport. This happened "early this evening." A Montgomery County police spokesman said it's not clear if it has anything to do with the sniper. A Fairfax County Police spokesman said the ATF took the truck to examine it more closely, and that nothing further is expected until tomorrow.
The funny thing is that it's not yet posted on their website, WTOPNews.com. They broadcast via both RealAudio and that stupid Windows Media thing; I've used both with little trouble.
UPDATE: Okay, it's posted.
By the way, the tipline--if you have an actual tip--is 888-324-9800
