Ooops, it's only 60-3... Here's a story about a local all-women's college, Hood, deciding to go co-ed on its (very small) residential campus. A number jumped out:

Hood's move is part of a longtime national trend away from single-sex education. Today, there are fewer than 60 free-standing four-year colleges for women in the United States -- down from nearly 300 in 1960 -- and only three all-male colleges.

I thought there were closer to 70 or 80 women's schools, but it looks like I was using outdated figures. Nevertheless, I sure hope that when she's finished installing a billionaire golfer at Augusta, Martha Burk of the National Council of Women's Organizations turns her attention to this national calamity. Unlike Augusta, most if not all of those 60 discriminatory schools receive federal aid of one kind or another. Perhaps Sen. Hillary Clinton can kick off the campaign by returning her degree from
Wellesley College.
